Finnish Beach Volleyball Championships 2010

Three days of Beach Volleyball in the center of Helsinki mark the culmination of the season: The Finnish Beach Volleyball Championships 2010 are played from Friday to Sunday.
One impressive center court is built and crispy, deep and fine sand is brought from Germany for this special occasion. 10 men and 6 women teams are admitted, Jaakko and Erik are one of them. Following the decision to ban one player from the final due to his behavior at last week's event, we advanced to sixth position.
This means, we will play against the number three seed Mikko Esko and Toni Tuominen on Friday at 18.00 o'clock. It is an all-or-nothing match, where only the winner advances to the semi-final and the loser is eliminated. So we have to give it our best!

We started off with one tournament victory in Mouhijärvi, beating the Finnish champions in the final. This was followed with a third place at the first event of the Pro Tour in Kuopio, quite a respectable result, too. Only at the Pro Tour in Lahti we let it slip a little, as Esko/Tuominen and the U23 Nationalteam Parviainen/Väisänen denied us to advance to the semi-finals and we had to settle with fifth place.

Finnish Veterans Championships 2010

Since Jaakko is nowhere near the age limits of the veterans, Erik had to look for a different partner. Tero Leikas is experienced (= old) enough to play the M35-category and together they registered for the Finnish Veterans Championships 2010 in Yyteri.

SM-Finals - Potential teams

Here are unofficial rankings of the top men and women teams of 2010. Only the top 10 men and the top 6 women teams are qualified for the championship, so the Pro Tour event in Helsinki might still change things a little. Below you can as well find the Excel-files, in order to experiment with different outcomes yourself.
